Adventskalender Tag 11: Tischdeko

Ach für heute hatte ich mir so was schönes überlegt und es wird nix draus. Zumindest nicht heute. Boo. Das Motto des Tages ist Freunde zum Essen einzuladen und meine geladenen Freunde wurden diese Woche von verschiedenen Erkältung-Grippe-Varianten danieder gestreckt. Also nix mit Essen, aber ein bisschen Tischdeko gibt’s trotzdem.

Today is not going to work out as planned. Boo. The friends that I invited over got hit by several forms of the flu – oh yes the evil man-flu as well. But that should not stop you, so:

Den Tisch habe ich trotzdem gedeckt, damit die Serviettenringe mit den Initialen der Gäste auch schön in Szene gesetzt sind. Außerdem konnte ich so schon mal für die Feiertage üben, auch wenn dann etwas mehr „Gelumpe“ auf den Tisch kommt.

I did set the table anyway so that the napkin rings I made are actually shown in their „natural environment“. Hehe. Also I could practice a little for the holidays, even though there’ll be much more stuff on the table.

Das Ding ist, Servietten falten ist ja nun wirklich nicht das was man jeden Tag macht. Diese Schleifen gehen aber wirklich total einfach. Am längsten hat da noch das Bügeln der Servietten gedauert. Vor Schreck finde ich jedoch grad die Anleitung nicht wieder … also probiere ich es aus dem Kopf.

The thing is folding napkins isn’t exactly what one does frequently. But these bows are easy – promise. It actually took longer to iron the napkins. Unfortunately, I can’t find the instructions now, so I’ll just try from the top of my head.

Folgende Schritte müsst ihr machen, um eure Tischdeko mit Schleifen-Servietten zu verschönern:

1. Serviette zum Dreieck falten
2. die obere Spitze vom Dreieck bis kurz über die Mitte nach unten falten
3. untere lange Kante nach oben klappen bis über die Spitze
4. obere kurze Kante nach undenkbaren (du solltest jetzt einen ca 5 cm breiten Streifen haben)
5. die äußeren Spitzen zur Mitte klappen, so dass sie sich überlappen
6. Serviettenring drum (ich hab noch ein Schnippsegummi drunter gemacht, damit es auch wirklich hält)
7. die beiden Spitzen nach unten herausziehen und zu einer Schleifen formen

These are the steps:

1. fold the napkin into a triangle
2. fold the tip over so that it’s just over halfway down
3. fold the long edge up so it just covers the tip
4. fold the short edge down (you should now have a strip that is about 5 cm wide)
5. fold the outer tips to the middle so they overlap
6. now place the napkin ring around the middle (I actually cheated with some elastic band to hold it together)
7. pull out the two tips and form into a bow

Für die restliche, doch eher bescheidene Tischdeko, habe ich schwarze Glitzer Sterne vom Depot, ein paar Nüsse und goldene Pailletten verwendet. Muss ja zum Namensschild an der Serviette passen. Wie schade eigentlich, dass es jetzt wirklich alles nur „Show“ ist oder wer kommt zum Essen rum?

The remaining, rather humble decoration ist made up of some nuts, black sparkling stars from a local store and some gold sequins. I mean it all needed to match the name tag on the napkin right. Too sad it’s all just for a show now or who’s coming round for dinner?

Zum Buch hat’s gestern Abend bei mir dann doch nicht mehr gereicht übrigens. Es wurde nur der Katalog von Maison du Monde (oder so ähnliche). Aber ich war gleich in zwei Buchläden, vielleicht lass ich das auch gelten. Und ich hab endlich den Glühwein von letzter Woche nachgeholt. Gemeinsam mit Mutti gab es je einen roten und einen weißen. Wobei ich sagen muss, dass ich in diesem Jahr den weißen fast favorisiere … naja Schloss Wackerbarth, Sächsisches Staatsweingut, was soll da auch schiefgehen?

By the way, I haven’t made it last night, I didn’t open a new book. I was only the catalogue of one of the shops I went to during the day. Shame on me. But I did go to two bookstores, maybe that counts to? But I could catch up on the Glühwein from last week. I went to the Christmas market with my mum and we both had a red and a white one each. Funnily enough I actually favour white this year … well its from Saxonian State Vineyard „Schloss Wackerbarth„, so what can go wrong? Nothing!

Ich freu mich auf morgen, da ist Halbzeit und es gibt wieder eine kleine Überraschung!
