Eco Friendly Crafting | Upcycling für Weihnachten

Hey ho zum zweiten Advent! Heut gibt es etwas Neues: einen internationalen Blog Hop zum Thema nachhaltige Weihnachten. Nachhaltig im Sinne von umweltbewusst, müllreduzierend, wiederverwenden und ökologisch verantwortungsvoll. Quasi wie Friedas for Future in Basteln.

Hey there, happy 2nd advent! Today something new is happening: an international’s blog hop tackling eco friendly Christmas crafting. It’s about upcycling, reducing waste, re-using the stuff we have and just generally being conscious about the (=our) environment. Call it the Fridays for Future of Crafting, if you like.

Ich hatte sofort eine Idee im Kopf: alter Kleiderbügel aus der Reinigung + Tannengrün = weihnachtlicher Türkranz. Ich war mir zwar nicht sicher, ob wir tatsächlich einen Drahtkleiderbügel noch irgendwo rumfliegen hätten, aber wenn man eine Idee hat, dann muss die Idee raus. Glücklicherweise ließ mich ein Blick in des Grinches Kleiderschrankhälfte aufatmen … ein leerer Kleiderbügel. Aus Draht. Genau so wie ich es brauchte. (Denn extra einen besorgen wäre ja irgendwie gegen die eigentliche Idee dieses Hops.)

I immediately had an idea: an old coat hanger from the dry cleaners + fir-tree greens = Christmas wreath. Even though I wan’t exactly sure wether we would even have one of these hangers at home. Yet, luckily looking through the Grinch’s side of our wardrobe I found one … empty, made out of wire, just like I imagined it to be. The Grinch never lets you down. (I mean, getting a new coat hanger just for this project would totally contradict the original purpose of the hop, wouldn’t it?)

Den Bügel jedoch in eine Form zu bringen, die mir gefällt (ursprünglich hatte ich mir einen Stern vorgestellt), war leichter gedacht als getan. Auch hier hilft es einen Grinch zu Hause zu haben: Mit dem Hammer hat er liebevoll, den Bügel in das verwandelt, was nun einen Kreis darstellen soll. Da ich schon wusste, dass ich gern mit Gold weiterarbeiten möchte, habe ich den Bügle dann erstmal mit goldener Acrylfarbe bemalt (mehr schlecht als recht). Während das also trocknete bin ich losgezogen nach Grünzeug – das wirklich einzige, dass ich hier für noch erworben habe. Denn wie gesagt: Nutze das was du hast! Es gibt keinen Grund das Hunderte Stempelset zu kaufen oder immer das aktuellste Designer Papier zu verwenden. Ja, das ist jetzt vielleicht „geschäftsschädigend“ oder Ketzerei, aber es ist die Wahrheit! Daher gibt’s hier auch keine Liste von Materialien… Nutze was du hast!

To bring the hanger into shape that I like (originally I wanted it to be a star shape) was defiantly easier thought than done. Again it proofs of great value to have your personal Grinch at home: using a hammer he carefully moulded the coat hanger into what is now expected to be recognised as a circle. As I knew I wanted to move forward with gold I used gold acrylic paint to quickly cover the hanger bevor going out to get some greens. The latter being the only thing I actually bought for this project. Because as I stated at the beginning: Use your stuff! That’s what it’S alla about. There is no need to buy another stamp set and no need to always only use the latest designer paper while you have a paper stach to last beyond life expectancy. I know this might be bad for business – but it’s the truth. Hence there’s no list of material used … Use what you have!

Und nun bin ich gespannt, was sich die anderen and der Öko-Bastel-Front aus gedacht haben, welche Materialien sie verwenden und welche Idee sie haben. Ich wünsche dir viel Spaß beim Durchklicken und möchte dir noch einen letzten Gedanken mitgeben: Schenk dieses Jahr doch lieber Zeit statt Zeug.
